Limerick : poem

A gigantic gent in Japan

Ordered vegetables by the van,

   When asked the question,

   "What about your digestion?"

He answered, "What I can’t eat, I can."

There was once a student called, "Mister"

Whose knowledge grew lesser and lesser,

It at least grew so small,

   He knew nothing at all,

And now, he’s a college professor!

GOD

Generous enough

Of all and for all things

Directly ’round us.

FEAR NOT

Do not be afraid

You can never be alone…

Someone’s always there.

TIME

Time flows by swiftly

And waste not its precious price,

Because time is gold.

Let There Be Peace

Let there be Peace in this troubled land,

Like the birds unmoulested,

let me scale the towering heights

   and soar the boundless skies.

Let there be Peace in this troubled land,

Like an innocent child,

   unfrightened  by roaring tanks

   chasing fluttering butterflies.

Let the be Peace in this troubled land,

Like a freeman,

   watching the rising sun transform

the gray-mist morn to glorious day.

Let there be Peace in this troubled land,

Like an artist,

let me sit and capture scenery

in the unfolding canvas of my mind.

Let there be peace in this troubled land,

Like a tree plant,

let nourishing fruits in abundance grow

where the peasant tills his land.

Oh, let there be Peace in this troubled land,

And let it begin with me

Peace, now…and forever more!

Money

Money can buy you the most sumptuous dish,

But it can’t buy your appetite,

You can’t eat the most sumptuous dish

If you don’t have the appetite to eat it.

Money can buy you luxuries,

   But it couldn’t buy comfort

Even the most expensive luxuries in the world

Won’t fit, if you’re not in comfort with them.

Money can twist the truth

And send the penniless to jail,

   But it couldn’t twist justice,

Justice is justice, and justice prevails,

Even if the truth is bought and twisted.

Money can put you on top of the world

And though you are bought on top

   It can’t put you into success;

   Success doesn’t require money,

   Success requires perseverance.

Money can make you a winner,

   a winner in any battle,

But it can’t make you a victor,

   Victory is achieved, not bought.

Money can buy the biggest house

   House with the complete appliances

But it cannot buy you a Home.

   Happiness depend in your HOME.

Money can buy people,

   People who laughs with you,

   But never cry with you.

   Cause it can’t buy FRIENDS…

   True FRIENDS…

MONEY buys but a speck of everything…

Memories of Yesterday

It seems like, yesterday

And i couldn’t put my sad memories away

I think of you day by day

But all my sorrows come to me and stay.

Oh, I don’t know exactly why

You just said to me one day, "Goodbye"

Then I started to cry

And felt I would die.

Then, suddenly

The world was on me

I walked to the garden near the tree

Where you once said you too loved me.

I can still remember the happy moments

Our sweet and tender moments,

I cared for you, you cared for me

But time was so cruel to agree.

I just couldn’t imagine

My one and only love broke my heart,

Wish I could turn back the time machine

So we could start again, and never be apart.

Now I pray,

My happiness be with you all the way,

And I have nothing more to say,

Guess it’s true ‘cause it’s only yesterday!

LET GO…LET GOD

While there is life,

there is still hope;

Only if you try and plan,

To dream, and hope.

A man may be at his wit’s end

But he need not be at his faith’s end

He has to strive, and hope…

If he cannot have the sun,

he still has the moon;

If he cannot have the moon,

he still has the stars;

If he cannot have the stars;

he still has his evening lamps to give him light;

And if he cannot have all these,

He can still go to sleep,

And dream that there is light…

Therefore, when all else failed,

Let go…..Let God!

BALLAD

SHAPE YOUR FUTURE

You can even change tomorrow

By the thought you think today,

For we form and shape our future

By our thoughts along the way.

Sometimes we never even dream

We can lose some long-sought good,

Even throw away our future

By not thinking as we should.

So don’t fret about your future

   You’re deciding it right now,

And it’s shaping up within you

Let God’s wisdom show you how.

Choose just what you want to happen

Dwell upon it give it love,

Picture it in vivid details

   As you’re guided from above.

Yes, you can change your tomorrow

By the way you think today,

You need never fear your future

Choose and shape it in your way.

*Ballad Poems are poems that tells a story similar to a folk tale or legend and often has a repeated refrain. A ballad is often about love and often sung. A ballad is a story in poetic form.

LIMERICK

A snail once said to a mouse,

"You’re lucky you live with your spouse,

"I’m afraid i’m fated,

To remain unmated,

There is simply no room in my house!"

————————————————–

A merchant addressing a debtor,

Set down in the course of his letter,

"I choose to suppose,

A man knows what he owes,

And the sooner he pays it the better."

————————————————-

A lady who weighed many pounds,

Used words that nice girls don’t pronounce,

When a prankster unkind,

Yanked her chair from behind,

He explained, "Just to see if she’d bounce."

*limerick - A nonsense poem of five anapestic lines, of which lines 1, 2, and 5 are of there feet, and rime, and lines 3 and 4 are of two feet, and rime (http://thinkexist.com/dictionary/meaning/limerick/)

COUPLET

VISIONS

Two men looked out from prison bars

One saw mud and one saw stars.

BOOKS

How truly are books very nice,

Within them you’ll live twice or thrice.

CRITICISM

I used to justify myself and frame some alibi,

But I just heed my critics now and all the harder try.

TONGUES

The tongue can be a blessing or the tongue can be a curse,

Say, friend how are you using yours, for better or for worse?

*couplet - a pair of verse that usually consists  of 2 lines that rhyme and have the same meter.
